How can I register an interest in my child joining Scouting with Explorers?
If your child is already a Scout in a Group within the District, there is no need to register an interest in moving up to Explorers. We do our very best to ensure that every Scout within the District is able to move up to one of the Units within the District. In a few rare cases, limits on numbers mean the transfer may be postponed for a term, but we try to make sure that doesn’t happen. If you have any questions about Moving Up please talk to your respective Scout Leadership team.
Application Form for those already Scouting in our District
If you are already a Scout in a Group within the District, in the term when you turn 14 years old you will be asked by your Scout leaders whether you want to move up to Explorers and if so, which Unit you would prefer to join. You will be asked to compete the linked FORM at the time. You should be aware that we ask for preferences because there are limited spaces available at our Units, and you are not guaranteed a place at your preferred Unit. We do, however, hope to always be able to offer a place at one of our Units to every Scout who wants to move up to Explorers. [Please note that the form is only able to receive responses during the window for applications, being the second half of the term in which a Scout turns 14].
Application Form for those NOT already Scouting in our District
If your child is not already a Scout within the District and is currently over 14 years old, your child can join our District Waiting List. As and when places become available within the District, we will contact the parents of young people on our List and attempt to fill the places. Please review our Waiting List Policy to see how we manage the list, and complete the form below.
